Narrative description
of project: |
The project was
a follow up on the previous project carried out for BAT
in 2005. It aimed to acquire tobacco fields though satellite
image interpretation. Groud truthing was carried out
in the field, database setup of ground truthing information.
Image (SPOT) interpretation has been carried out with
ILWIS software in order to establish links between spectral
folders of tobacco fields in the satellite image with
the ground truthing information collected in the field.
Besides this, a GIS has been installed in BAT-Arua, BAT-Hoima
and BAT Head quarters and 100 BAT field staff has been
trained in the use of hadheld GPS receivers. Three BAT
staff members have been trained in GIS and thematic mapping |
