Narrative description of project:

|
WE Consult Ltd. obtained support from
the Directorate of Water Development, DFID, the Free
University of Amsterdam and a drilling company (Drillcon
Ltd.) to carry out a study to prepare a detailed hydrogeological
map of Kibaale District. These maps are indispensable
for both water development planning and water resources
management purposes.
A reliable database was established in Excel
spreadsheet format by carefully merging and matching
information from a number of data sources: the National
Groundwater Data Base and WES-GIS Database, both of
DWD, the digital data of the National Biomass Study
the relevant topographical map sheets geological maps,
documents on water resources of Kibaale District, and
data from private sector consultants and drilling contractors.
The database was converted in ArcView, and the relevant
data were converted into various thematic layers.
