Narrative
description of project:

|
The objective
of the assignment was to develop a CBWMP to manage Nabajuzzi
wetlands in a sustainable manner for present and future
generations while gaining economic, social, environmental
and cultural benefits. Nine management objectives were
identified: creating awareness, improvement of soil
and water management in the catchment area, promotion
of efficient use of wetland resources, introduction
of alternative income-generating activities, promotion
of tourism, ensuring proper disposal of wastes, formation
of wetland management committees, formation of bylaws,
and law enforcement at District and Sub-County level.
The consultant, together with the stakeholders, developed
the management structures, tools and monitoring indicators.
Possible sources of funding were also identified.
