Consult was awarded the contract for Assessment of National
Private Sector Drilling Capacity for Rural Water Supply
in Mozambique. The main objective is to identifying
the universe of active borehole drilling companies and
entrepreneurs in Mozambique which incorporates amongst
others the constraints, legal framework, equipment and
contract issues.
The work consists of a number of phases.
The inception phase is followed by
a data collection phase. Stakeholders
such as suppliers, drilling companies, donors and NGOs
are visited in Maputo, Inhambane, Sofala, Zambezia and
Nampula Province.
During the Draft Reporting Phase
the data compiled during the data collection phase will
be analysed and the results will be compiled in a draft
report and database, which will be reviewed by the task
manager. The report will give an overview of the capacity
of the drilling operators in the country within a framework
determined by interrelated factors like geology, legal/institutional/financial
aspects, suppliers, etc. A detailed analysis of the
costs for drilling boreholes in Mozambique will also
be included.
During the Final Reporting Phase
the suggestions and corrections will be incorporated
in the final report in Portuguese. Executive reports
in both English and Portuguese will be submitted simultaneously.
A week of professional staff has been reserved for the
dissemination process. In which way and how this will
take place will be determined during the current project.
It is anticipated that the process might span more time. |
