Narrative
description of project:
|
|
Hydrogeological
investigations were carried out to determine the groundwater
potential in three towns in Uganda. Ultimately, the
project aimed at identifying a minimum of 10 sites for
the drilling of high-yielding boreholes for the Town
water supplies. The investigations were done through
the selection of survey sites through desk-study and
aerial photograph interpretation, followed by extensive
resistivity profiling across inferred fracture zones
and soundings on favourable locations. In Lugazi, an
additional evaluation of existing hydrogeological data
of Lugazi was carried out.

In Rukungiri Town: 5 boreholes with driller’s
yields between 2.8 and 31 m3/hr, with an
average of 14.8 m3/hr. A total of 3 production
wells were selected to accommodate the Town water supply
·
In Lugazi Town: 4 boreholes with driller’s
yields between 3 and 24 m3/hr, with an average
of 11.6 m3/hr.
·
In Wobulenzi Town: two sites were drilled,
with a driller’s yield of 0.8 and 13 m3/hr.
